Welcome to Fergusson Intermediate School
Kia ora koutou e hoa ma / Hello team!
My name is Simon Kenny and it is my privilege to be the Principal of Fergusson Intermediate. After an exciting career in graphic design and photolithography I decided, at age 26, to get into a career where I could work alongside people, particularly young people, and make a positive difference in peoples lives. I received my Bachelor of Education after three years at the Wellington College of Education and have been happily teaching and learning ever since. The majority of my career has been working alongside Year 7 and 8 students in a range of Wellington schools until taking up my first Principal position at Birchville School in Upper Hutt. I started my role as Principal of Fergusson Intermediate in Term 4, 2017.
I am extremely passionate about holistic education and about everyone being recognised and celebrated for their uniqueness and individuality. As well as, and alongside academic success, I am committed to discovering, developing and supporting students passions and talents. Creativity, resilience and adaptability are vital for our young people to succeed in an ever changing world. I strongly believe that all learners should be connected to their own identity, talents andculture and that diversity should be celebrated and supported within all learning environments and opportunities.
I welcome anyone who would like to learn more about our school and what we offer to contact me firstname.lastname@example.org and set up a time to meet and take a look around. I also welcome any feedback, ideas, questions or suggestions you may have about Fergusson Intermediate. I value the input of community and know that when we work together effectively we can achieve wonderful things for all of our students, our teachers, our whānau and our wider community.
